Powder Magazine
(Print)
Client Overview:
Widely regarded as the pinnacle of ski publications, Powder Magazine was created by skiers, for skiers—fueled by a deep passion for both the sport and the craft of storytelling. Built on a photo-driven editorial model, Powder set itself apart by collaborating with the industry’s most renowned photographers and writers, capturing the essence of skiing through breathtaking imagery and compelling narratives.
More than just a magazine, Powder was a cultural cornerstone, celebrating the soul of skiing with authenticity and unwavering dedication.
Project Overview:
As Art Director for Powder Magazine from Volumes 40 through 43—including the award-winning Volume 42—I led the creative direction for each six-issue volume, published monthly from September to February, as well as 1–2 special issues per volume.
Working within a small but highly dedicated editorial team, I effectively operated as a one-person art department, overseeing and producing all creative assets for the magazine while collaborating closely with the photo department to bring each issue to life. The role was fast-paced and deadline-driven, but the opportunity to shape the visual storytelling of one of the most respected ski publications was both exciting and rewarding.
I’m grateful to have worked alongside some of the best photographers and writers in the industry, crafting a magazine that truly captured the essence of skiing and its culture.
