Powder Magazine:
40th Anniversary Issue
Client Overview:
Founded in 1972 by the Moe brothers in the legendary ski town of Sun Valley, Idaho, Powder Magazine was born from a passion for skiing and a desire to create the ultimate ski publication. For 40 years, it has captured the essence of the sport, telling the stories of the athletes, photographers, writers, filmmakers, and editors who have shaped skiing’s history.
This special 40th-anniversary issue is a tribute to that legacy—a 198-page celebration of ski culture featuring premium paper and cover stock, elevating it as a true collector’s edition. Designed to honor the past while inspiring the future, this issue embodies the spirit of skiing and the community that makes it unforgettable.
Project Overview:
To celebrate its 40th anniversary and the launch of a special commemorative issue, Powder Magazine hosted a landmark industry event in Sun Valley. As part of the celebration, they collaborated with key brand partners to create exclusive, anniversary-themed swag for event guests.
One of the standout pieces were the limited-edition Atomic Skis, featuring a nostalgic topsheet graphic that I designed by adapting artwork from Powder’s very first cover. To enhance the design, the topsheet was printed with silver metallic inks, creating a subtle yet striking effect—a night sky where the stars seemed to sparkle.
This project blended heritage, innovation, and craftsmanship, making it a memorable tribute to Powder’s legacy and a coveted keepsake for attendees.
